As part of the Nevada Health Foundation Development Team, the essential function of the Development Officer

is to successfully identify, develop, cultivate, solicit, and steward philanthropic relationships. This position will work closely with the Executive Director and development staff as a critical part of the team. This position will organize, manage, and execute fundraising activities focused on generating major gifts for the Nevada Health Foundation. Major donor prospects will be identified from new sources and through a moves management system.

 

The Development Officer is expected to identify individual donors, foundations, and organizations with giving interest, access, and capacity for solicitation and stewardship. This position must be open and willing to work in a busy, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The Development Officer must also be willing to work within a team environment (even though in a different physical location), perform administrative duties as necessary, be willing to lend a hand in helping when colleagues are pressed to meet deadlines, and accept other assignments as requested.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the development team, creating and implementing a strategic plan and a major gifts program strategy to meet annual fundraising
  • Secures major funding awards through individual, major, planned, innovative, capital campaigns and digital giving avenues.
  • Develops and maintains an active and current data and knowledge base for growing a constituency of current and prospective
  • Designs, develops and implements long-range plans for strong cultivation and stewardship strategies to nurture and maintain relationships with major, prospective, and donors to all
  • Build relationships with prospects, mid-level, and major donors via communications, solicitations, and stewardship
  • Working in collaboration with the marketing department, develop correspondence and proposal materials for prospective donors to generate major
  • Maintains an active schedule of solicitations, cultivation visits, events, and stewardship activities with a focus on meeting department
  • Working with the Executive Director, sets goals to perform and complete prospect and donor calls and cultivation and solicitation visits regularly and systematically.
  • Working with the Donor Engagement Specialist tracks all donor and prospect interactions through the Raiser’s Edge
  • Working with the Executive Director, mobilizes Foundation board members and other volunteers to engage in solicitations and other cultivations/stewardship
  • Completes grant applications as
  • Fosters good working relationships with key staff and community partners to integrate the Foundation’s strategic fundraising plan.
  • Represents NVHC in articulating our mission and increasing awareness of services we
  • Creates community presentations on behalf of Nevada Health Foundation and presents at regional and community meetings and other events as assigned.
  • Maintains visibility and availability in the community and frequently attend community
  • Designs, prepares and implements fundraising events as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Desired Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Understands and is committed to the mission of Nevada Health Centers.
  • Strong knowledge of the Las Vegas community, partnerships and organizations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and diplomacy.
  • Detail oriented and has the ability to evaluate, prioritize, design, implement and manage multiple projects.
  • Extensive experience in fundraising, development functions and grant writing.
  • Demonstrates respect for confidentiality of donor information.
  • Strong administrative skills, has a sharp eye for details, possesses a strong, solution driven nature and excellent follow up skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent ability to problem solve, deescalate/resolve conflict and perform service recovery.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends required.
  • Creative, independent team player capable of working within an organizational structure. 
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality work in a consistent manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (especially Excel, Word and Access). Must be capable of generating reports, tracking data and compiling and merging data as needed.

 

Requirements: 

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in fundraising, business, healthcare, or related fields is required. Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a non-profit Development/Foundation office environment.
